VA Continues Developing Online Benefits Portal

The Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense continue to develop their joint self-service website that allows registered users to access military and veterans benefits resources.

The departments planned for the latest release to allow for easier navigation of the online disability compensation claim submission process using interview-style questions and drop-down menus similar to tax-preparation software. It expects to have 2.5 million registered users in 2013.

 

The latest release also pre-populates the application with information from a veteran's record in VA's secure database, a tool to help determine eligibility for vocational rehabilitation and employment benefits, and a search function that identifies a claimant's appointed veterans service representative.

 

To access eBenefits, veterans and service-members must obtain a DoD self-service logon ID and password at: ebenefits.va.gov, or in person at a VA regional office.
