Veterans Groups Plan Appeal

The U.S. Supreme Court after the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of appeals recently halted a revamping of the Dept. Of Veterans Affairs' mental health system. According to court documents, veterans wait an average of more than four years to fully adjudicate a claim for mental health benefits. Two veteran advocacy groups, Veterans for Common Sense and Veterans United for Truth, plaintiffs in the case, will appeal the case to the U.S. Supreme Court, but they said the ruling means access to VA mental health care will continue to be inadequate while the case is still pending before the courts. A brief of the case is available online.
